Souvenirs and shopping in Rome: what to bring

So, you have gathered in the "Eternal City" and want to bring something that reminds you of a trip. Of course, the most pleasant and lasting acquisition associated with Rome is the memories that you will have left and the photos against the background of its sights. But if you want something more substantial that you can touch, then we have prepared a selection of recommendations that you can bring from Rome.

Clothing in Rome

Shopping in Rome - This is primarily clothing. If designer things are important to you, then, with your eyes closed, you can safely go to the shops on Via Condotti near the Spanish Steps. However, here, and even with the current exchange rate of the euro, do not expect sparing prices - good designer clothes in Italy are not cheap.

Shopping in Rome is, first of all, clothing

If the full equipment does not fit into your budget, but you still want to buy something stylish and inexpensive, then silk scarves can be the solution. They are abundantly represented in all the more or less large stores in Rome. The choice is really wide, and their prices do not bite much.

Also pay attention to Roman outlets. They can buy designer clothes from past seasons with very pleasant discounts from 30 to 70%. The most famous outlet in Rome is Castel Romano - we dedicated a separate article to it.

Bags and shoes

Which one shopping in rome without bags, shoes and leather accessories? Italian shops specializing in shoes are a real celebration of assortment and quality. The choice of bags is a bit narrower, but they are also very pleasing.

Outlet Castell Romano is considered the most famous in Rome

As elsewhere in the world, beware of street vendors selling Gucci bags for only 15 euros. If bargaining is your strong point, then you will become a happy owner of a very good fakes at a very good price. Therefore, if the budget is limited, but you want new things, then bags and shoes can also be found in outlets.

Jewelry

Italy has a long history of jewelry production, dating back to the famous jewelers of the Roman Empire. This is not cheap, but, especially on gold products, it is very worth paying attention. And in terms of design, Italy has always been ahead of the rest.

If gold is expensive for the budget, then take a look at handmade jewelry. It costs much less than an example and is often also very good. In this case, you don’t even have to go far, such "little things" are abundant on the streets of Rome.

Street souvenirs in Rome are found on every corner

Glass

Murano glass, although produced in Venice, can be bought not only in Rome, but throughout Italy. But before buying, be sure to make sure that you purchase the original, since recently even in Italy itself there have been many fakes. Real Murano glass, regardless of the size of the item, is always accompanied by a certificate of quality.

Food in rome

Balsamic vinegar (balsamic), olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese and chocolate - if you are a fan of Italian cuisine, then you got exactly where you need to. Although Italian products are sold everywhere in Rome, we recommend that you pay attention to shops in small alleys in the area of the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon.

In the area of the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, you can find colorful shops with Italian products.

In the center of Rome, the shortage of large supermarkets is felt like nowhere else in the world, but near the Hotel dei Borgognoni on Via del Bufalo (near the Spanish Steps) you can find a small Spa selling fresh Parmegiano and decent olive oil.

Street souvenirs

As in any other European capital, souvenirs in rome sold almost on every corner. Magnets, postcards with views of Roman sights, reproductions of statues and much more. Sometimes you will find a ridiculously expensive souvenir you like, however - do not rush to get upset. In just a few blocks, the price could be half the price.

So, last year, in one of the stores near the Pantheon, I liked the wonderful dummy of the ancient Roman helmet at a very obscene price of 120 euros. The merchant was surprisingly convincing that this was perhaps the last such helmet in the whole city. However, two hours later, I found exactly the same at a price of 90 near the Vatican. And the phrase that the seller is expected to pay in cash, allowed to bring down the price to 70.

You can find interesting handmade toys in the Al Sogno store in Piazza Navona

If you are interested in cheap small things for distribution, then a lot of trinkets and magnets at ridiculous prices can be dialed on the road from the Ottaviano metro to the Vatican - just take a larger bag with you. If you need a gift for a child or a souvenir to a loved one, pay attention to the handmade toy store Al Sogno in Piazza Navona. It is not cheap, but very nice.

Religious souvenirs

Although souvenirs on the subject of Christianity are also very popular in Rome, their true abundance is on Via della Conciliazione - the road leading to St. Peter's Square. Due to its proximity to the main shrine of Catholic Europe, the range here is amazing, allowing you to find everything in the slightest degree related to religion - from medals and figurines to calendars with church holidays.
