Apartments for rent

How to rent an apartment in Rome near attractions

Renting an apartment or apartment in Rome can be a great and inexpensive alternative to booking hotels. Having lived in Rome for three years and going through its center and main attractions, far and wide, I present to you an overview of the best apartments in the Italian capital in terms of price / quality ratio.

Who is this review for?

You have long dreamed of coming to Rome, perhaps even your whole life, and now the dream has come true! You have already read dozens of reviews, reviews, tips from experienced travelers.

I hope these tips of the local resident will help you make your stay in the Eternal City comfortable. Do you want to eat deliciously, have most of the sights within walking distance and enjoy the atmosphere of the most beautiful city in the world.

In this mini-study, we will consider the pros and cons of booking apartments on the most popular and reliable resource Booking.com and its competitor Airbnb.com (here is the discount from me for the first booking).

Booking is easier and more reliable at booking, often cheaper and more offers, no need to correspond with the owners. But on Airbnb you can really find unique apartments with panoramic city views, be sure to read about them in this article.

What to look for when booking?

Surcharge for each subsequent guest

Typically, the cost of daily rental housing on Airbnb is designed for 2-5 people and for each subsequent guest, the owners ask for an extra charge of 15-30 euros. Of course, you can say that you are 2nd, and five of you occupy, but this option is more likely for extreme travelers. Moreover, the owners for each additional guest must provide bed linen and pay tourist tax.

  • Plus Booking: you immediately see the specific offers for a given number of guests

Cleaning fee

A cleaning fee is a one-time fee that is included in the total bill and averages 20-30 euros. If you rent an apartment for 7-10 days, this amount is not so significant in the general bill.

  • Plus Booking: all possible surcharges are usually immediately included in the price of the apartment

Security Deposit

Security deposit, of the order of 100-150 euros, may be levied at the discretion of the owners and is returned upon eviction.

  • Plus Booking: you can hardly find such a trick as a “pledge” at a booking.

Cancellation Policy

Rome is one of the most popular cities in the world and there is no shortage of tourists, as there are no people wishing to rent an apartment, so in most cases you will meet strict cancellation policy (when canceling a reservation at least 5 days in advance, you will be charged 50% and the service charge) or moderate (full refund, except for service charges, 5 days before arrival). All reservation systems use the same policy, for example, Booking.com is much more profitable to book rooms without canceling your reservation.

Total: Pay immediately - get significant savings. Do you want to change your plans 20 times and at the last moment - no problem, pay more.

A month before the trip, in most cases on Airbnb and Booking, you can cancel your reservation for free.

How long does it take to book?

The most popular months to visit in Rome are season from April to October, and also from February 12 to March 10, Catholic Christmas and New Year's holidays. If you plan to relax at this time of the year and want to have a good choice of several offers, you will have to think about renting a home for at least 2-3 months. For six months you can count on great promotions with discounts. In November and the second half of January you don’t have to worry much, but do not forget that Rome is one of the most popular cities in the world, and the demand for hotels and apartments, especially in the center, is almost constant here.

  • Caution: Costs may vary during high and low season.

We will start the search for apartments in Rome with a special section on Booking.

Only apartments in which I myself would stay or settle my best friend will be included in the review. No apartments near Termini Station and the homeless. We, as experienced travelers who listen to the advice of a local resident, will live in the heart of the gastronomic paradise - the Trastevere district, enjoy the fountains of Piazza Navona, enjoy the panoramas of Rome from the Spanish Steps, meet the dawn at the Coliseum or the Trevi Fountain.

I advise you to study:

  • Overview of cheap hotels in Rome from 50 to 80 euros / day
  • Overview of hotels 3-4 stars from 80 to 100 euros / day
  • Where is the center of Rome - how to choose the right hotel?

Trastevere

Trastevere is the most atmospheric and my favorite area of Rome. If you are a foodie, then accommodation options in other areas may not even be considered. Trastevere has hundreds of bars and restaurants for every wallet. The average bill at local restaurants is around 50 euros for two for dinner, but there are budget options like Carlo Menta, where you can dine for 10-15 euros per person. In any case, you will not remain hungry on Trastevere, never.

  • See the article: where to eat tasty and inexpensive in Rome

B&B Calisto 6 for 90 euros

B&B Calisto is located near Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of Rome's most beautiful squares. In the evenings, street artists and the atmosphere of the old city await you.

Casa Enriqueta for 90-110 euros

Casa Enriqueta is a clean, neat apartment with its own terrace. And especially for those who can get tired of the endless vibrant life of Rome, there is a courtyard where you can relax and gain strength for the next conquest of the Eternal City. All restaurants are within walking distance, literally 200 meters away is my favorite Rome Aqua Paolo fountain and the observation deck (Piazza Garibaldi) for lovers on the Gianicolo hill. It is from there that we begin the dive excursion in Trastevere. The only negative of these apartments is that they are booked many months in advance. An estimate of 9.5 costs a lot on booking.

Next door:

  • VOI Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel is a 4-star hotel in a former convent designed by Francesco Borromini.

Roma Trastevere Relais Guest House for 60-80 euros

Roma Trastevere Relais Guest House is a more economical option, next to Trastevere Station, which means you can conveniently and profitably get from Fiumicino Airport for only 8 euros. The 8th tram takes you to Venice Square in around 15 minutes. Porta Porteze's famous flea market is next to the apartment on Sundays. We recommend booking them for 3-4 months.

Beautiful analogues nearby:

Bed & Puppets for 50-60 euros

Bed & Puppets is the cheapest option in our review, three stops further than Trastevere Station on the same 8th tram. Of the benefits - near a supermarket. Ideal for budget travelers.

Trastevere Enchanting Apartment for 100 euros

Beautiful apartment Trastevere Apartment in the heart of the historical center of Trastevere next to Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. Ideal for a company of 3-4 people or a family vacation with children.

Analogs:

  • Luxury Trastevere - for 150/180 euros for 4 people.

Rome in Apartment - Trastevere for 100 euros

Rome in Apartment is my personal choice for a large family or company for 5-6 people in the heart of the Eternal City. Nearby is my favorite restaurant, TAKE YOUR TIME.

I also advise you to read a separate review of unique apartments in Trastevere with their own pools and terraces.

Coliseum

Living a few steps from the main attraction and the symbol of Rome is really very cool.

Stunning view of the Colosseum for 90-150 euros with a view of the Colosseum!

Relais Terme Di Tito is located just 100 meters from the metro station and offers stunning views of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. An Italian breakfast with croissants, coffee / cappuccino and juice is included.

Penthouse with a view of the Forum 100 meters from the Coliseum for 130 euros

Remember how the hero of Great Beauty Jeb had parties on his terrace overlooking the Coliseum? Apartments with this kind of view are just a couple of pieces and the Rome Unique Colosseum Apartment is just for such romantics. Very cool option, in my opinion.

Navona

It was in the Piazza Navona that the main character, the dear Roman prostitute, lived, which Sophia Loren perfectly played in the film "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow". Also Navona is one of the most famous and beautiful squares in the world. Bernini's fountain of 4 rivers, artists, musicians, restaurants - admire such Rome from your window, you will agree, great luck and memories for life.

Apartment for 8 people 100 meters from Navona!

The spacious (190 square meters) Domus Principessa Navona apartments are an excellent choice for large groups of romantics and fans of old films about Rome.

360 € Lifestyle Suites Rome for Lifestyle

Lifestyle Suites Rome are luxurious suites overlooking the fountain of four rivers. The cost of such apartments for sale starts from a million euros, so 360 euros per night, given the uniqueness of the location, do not look like too much.

Pantheon Holiday for 90 euros for 4 people

Pantheon Holiday is a great budget option for families of budget travelers.

Spanish Steps

The Spanish Steps and the Barkaccia Fountain attract thousands of tourists daily. The important point is that renting apartments in this area is on a hill - so you can enjoy the sunsets daily, as well as saving energy on climbing, walking around the most beautiful park in Rome - Villa Borghese.

Suite Spanish Apartment for 85 euros

Suite Spanish Apartment - a romantic apartment for two only. Go in the morning for croissants, buy a kilogram of oranges, make freshly squeezed juice for your beloved and, believe me, the atmosphere and view of a million will make you the best man in the world. These days in Rome will remain in your memory for life.

Piazza Spagna Relais for € 205 for 6

Piazza Spagna Relais - a clean, bright apartment and stunning views of the Eternal City apartment. Browse through the album with photos on Booking and you’ll understand.

If finances allow or you have a special occasion, such as a honeymoon or an anniversary, you are here. Please note that it is advisable to book this unique apartment for a minimum of 3-4 months.

Trevi Fountain

One of the most famous and beautiful fountains in the world can delight you at any time of the day. Can't sleep at night? Get out of your Roman apartment, sit on the steps of the fountain, enjoy this great beauty, remember how Marcello Mastroianni bathed with Anita Ekberg in the movie “Sweet Life” by Fellini.

Trevi Fountain apartments for 140 euros for 4

Trevi Fountain apartments - beautiful apartments for a company of up to 4 people on the top floor.

  • A good analogue: the Fontana Hotel Rome - 140 euros / day, with a unique view of the fountain. Just look through the photos on the booking.

Trevi Rome Suite for 225 Euro for 6 people

Trevi Rome Suite is a luxury apartment for 5-6 people, or maybe just for you two? In any case, I could not ignore this unique offer. But despite the cost, for the next 3-4 months the apartments are already booked for almost all dates.

And these are just some, but the best in my opinion, of the proposals for daily rent of apartments in Rome. Unlike hotel accommodation, here you are left to your own devices and you can have a truly unforgettable vacation in the Eternal City. And yet, the apartments are absolutely necessary for courageous travelers with young children, because access to the kitchen at any time is provided.
